Mistral LOOP 7B

Mistral LOOP 7B combines the Mistral 7B base model with the LOOP V2 behavioral prompt layer.

It does not modify the model weights and does not use fine-tuning. The improvement comes from a structured reasoning and response-quality process applied at the prompt level.

What it does

For simple requests, Mistral LOOP answers directly.

For tasks involving reasoning, comparison, extraction, transformation, or judgment, it silently checks:

  1. The exact question and required result
  2. Evidence supplied by the user or available context
  3. Assumptions being made
  4. A candidate answer or result
  5. Missing requirements, contradictions, unsupported claims, and omissions
  6. Corrections needed for accuracy and completeness
  7. Final compliance with the requested format, length, count, and exclusions

It returns only the final answer unless the user asks for the reasoning process.

If essential information is unavailable, it identifies the specific gap instead of inventing an answer. It does not claim to have used a tool, inspected a source, changed something, or completed an action without evidence.

Best uses

Mistral LOOP 7B is designed for practical, structured work such as:

  • Classification and routing
  • Data extraction
  • Normalization and cleanup
  • Fixed-format responses
  • Requirement checking
  • Lightweight validation
  • Deterministic workflow assistance
  • Small local automation tasks

It is especially useful when a workflow needs a compact model that follows requirements carefully and produces consistent, reviewable output.

Example

ollama run optimistic_mcnulty_933/mistral-loop:7b

Using it in deterministic workflows

The model is intended to support deterministic workflows, not replace them.

For stronger repeatability, combine it with:

  • Temperature set to 0 where supported
  • A fixed seed where supported
  • Structured output schemas
  • Input normalization
  • Post-response validation
  • Explicit retry and failure handling
  • Code or workflow logic for final decisions

The workflow should remain the source of truth. The model provides disciplined interpretation, transformation, and checking.

Relationship to GPT-OSS LOOP

Mistral LOOP 7B is the smaller, faster companion to the larger GPT-OSS LOOP models.

Use Mistral LOOP for lightweight structured tasks and local assistance. Use the larger GPT-OSS LOOP models when the task requires deeper reasoning, larger context, or more complex multi-step reflection.

Project note

Mistral LOOP was created as a practical community contribution by Carmon and Codex. It is a prompt-layer adaptation of the Mistral 7B model; no model weights were changed.

The underlying Mistral model license and Ollama usage terms apply.
